Course Description
The Role of an Intra-oral Dental Assistant
Intra-oral dental assistants are multi-skilled health care professionals, possessing a diverse knowledge base. They effectively perform clinical skills, administrative procedures and practitioner anatomy through assignment and delegation of duties and responsibilities within provincial legislation.

Dental assistants practice effective interpersonal skills and maintain collaborative relationships with all members of the oral health care team in the delivery of patientcentered care. In addition they are skilled at using technology for communication, exercise critical thinking and decision-making abilities, apply dental knowledge to clinical situations and demonstrate both personal and professional management. Their education and training, professionalism and experience coupled with provincial registration qualify them to perform a variety of supportive and direct patient care procedures.

Our graduates are eligible to apply to write the National Dental Assisting Examining Board (NDAEB) exam.

Program Mission Statement:
To provide high quality academic and clinical education primarily by contributing to oral health needs of the community and by promoting educational growth and development of each individual through life long learning;
